Emma Jean Kemp
Emma is a young sculptor who is particularly interested in capturing human emotions and celebrating the human form.
With great attention to detail she creates realistic and evocative figures; generally in cold-cast bronze, with some solid bronze pieces in development. Emma is involved in the whole process, from initial sketches to final casting, exploring the boundaries of mould-making techniques to create complicated sculptures.
Humour and whimsy are integral elements of many of her sculptures and she has a particular fondness for creating pieces that relate to books and learning. Another major theme of her work is her use of ascending figures, either on staircases or in traditional climbing positions, giving an aspirational feel to the sculpture.
Emma recently produced large wire sculptures of two barristers, one male and one female, for the Judges Lodging Hotel in York, the maquettes of which have just been released for sale.
Kemp's work ranges from £500 - £3,000
